Type of organisation:
Farming and countryside

Opportunities:
Lectures, Participation, Play groups, Projects, Schools programme,

Areas of interest:
Our main area of interest is to encourage children to appreciate and understand the countryside so that they may learn to love the natural world and understand the need to care for it.

We are a small farm breeding farm animals that are now rare. Education is one of our principle aims and we host a large number of school visits each year. Though we are accredited under the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS) we have no practical experience within the modern educational system and would welcome the guidance and possible practical help that a link with the teaching profession could provide.

At Baylham House we have a wide range of resources that can be used in many areas of the national curriculum. We have habitats of lake, river, pasture, woods, hedgerows and rough vegetation. We can provide the resources for measuring, calculating, organising, deduction, environmental considerations and logical thought. We have breeding groups of all types of farm animals (except horses) and, in addition, have a significant spread of wild species, both birds, mammals, insects, resident and migratory.
