Burwell House is a Cambridgshire County Council run residential study Centre, on the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border, near Newmarket. Situated in an large 18th Century village house with 3 acres of garden, we cater residentially for up to 55 children and 5 teachers. Schools get exclusive use of the house so only one group is resident on site at any one time. Schools from across East Anglia make up the bulk of our customers and most stay for 2 nights.

While resident at the Centre, groups take part in a non-prescriptive array of activities.  There are a wide variety of options which schools choose from, including Mapwork and Orienteering, Geographical fieldwork, Environmental Science, Historical Enquiry, Art and Craft and Teambuilding.  Additionally we have a fully functioning TV studio which many of our upper KS2 groups use for creating and producing news broadcasts.

Accomodation in the house consists of dormitory rooms from 4 - 13 occupants, all with en-suite or nearby toilet/shower facilities. There are also a variety of downstairs rooms, including 2 large lounges, the TV studio and a Craft room. Meals are taken in our dining room, conservatory and, if the weather allows, on picnic benches in the garden. The garden contains a wide variety of trees and shrubs and areas of meadow, woodland and pond.  It is extensively used in activities and is loved by visitors as a place to explore, discover and play.

As well as schools we host a number of weekend youth and adult courses.
