Catalyst is an interactive science centre whose aim is to make science exciting and accessible to pupils of all ages and abilities. Our award winning programme ranges from hands on workshops, 3D films to interactive shows.

We can offer ITT students opportunites to work with all age ranges in a stimulating setting that is very different from the classroom. Depending on the length of their stay students can shadow staff, work alongside pupils, take part in shows and lead story sessions.

As the only chemistry based science centre in the country we can offer a unique chance to see how industry can help schools, how pupils can become enthused by a visit and do hands on chemistry in our futuristic lab.

Students who have already undertaken placements here have become firm friends with the centre often returning in school holidays to help out. Many bring their pupils here once they have qualified and all have said that their confidence in doing hands on science in the classroom has improved because they have seen what exciting science can really be done safely with their own class.

All the education team are either teachers or science presenters. The curruent education manager is a qualified teacher and was previously an advisor, so students have access to a wide range of experience and expertise.

The centre is a warm and friendly place and staff are passionate about sharing science with all ages.
