There are numerous activities trainee teachers can undertake in settings other than schools to generate creative behaviours and thinking skills and increase subject knowledge. Trainees should be involved in planning activities to ensure all partners have ownership of the process.
Activities trainees can undertake on placement include:
- shadowing teaching sessions led by staff from settings
- developing resources for use in school and the setting
- direct teaching of education sessions
- developing or delivering workshops
- creating e-learning resources
- delivering outreach sessions
- creating a lesson plan using the setting
- plan for an outside of school visit
- involvement in educational project work
- planning and policy development
