Engaging with archives: exploring a sense of place

AT A GLANCE

A group of 18 Year 2 students were introduced to the work of the Archive's education service and to some of our local collections over several workshops. They were also introduced to Hampshire Wizkid which is available in all of the County's primary schools and given a brief to research and develop three case studies to be uploaded to the VLE.

In three groups the students developed research and presentation skills, selected material for digitisation and put together their own PowerPoint presentations for peer review and uploading to the VLE.

A final workshop was held at Milestones Living History museum where the students could see how archive material can complement three-dimensional objects for local studies. They were also able to interact with visiting school parties on the day.
