Teaching Outside the Classroom supports the development of placements for trainee teachers in settings other than schools. This website helps you set up and evaluate placements, and provides case studies of existing good practice.

Teaching outside the classroom (TOTC) - twilight sessions

These free twilight networking events will give you the opportunity to:

  • discover the benefits of trainee teachers working in cultural settings at the start of their careers
  • find out more about how Teaching Outside the Classroom can support you to develop effective and sustainable partnerships
  • network with cultural educators, Initial Teacher Training providers and other professionals from across the Children’s Workforce

Twilight sessions run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, unless otherwise indicated.

  • 8 September 2010 - Liverpool
  • 15 September 2010 - Cambridge
  • 16 September 2010 - Manchester

These sessions are offered as part of the MLA Strategic Commissioning Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme. This provides opportunities for further development of skills, knowledge and experience, to enable the cultural sector to strengthen the delivery of the Children's Agenda and deliver quality programmes for children and young people.

The CPD programme is framed around the Common Core Framework of Skills, developed in consultation with the Children's Workforce & Development Council, to support the development of key skills those working with children and young people.
